Lemoncella - Lemon Liqueur

Lemoncella is now the second most popular cordial in Italy and the newest upscale drink trend in the United States. This exotic beverage originated along the Italian Amalfi coast, where it is also known as Limoncello. For centuries, lemon growers produced lemoncello in their family kitchens, passing down Limoncello recipes to the next generation. Since commercial production began in 1995, American tourists have discovered this Italian lemon-flavored drink and brought it home with them. Although hard to find, Lemoncello has become a popular request at upscale restaurants and bars.

The Spirits of Coachella

Currently, all Limoncello is imported from Italy, primarily the Amalfi Coast region. A new company, the Spirits of Coachella, is poised to become the first domestic producer of this popular lemon flavored cordial. They have partnered with a major Italian distiller and will begin by importing their own label using a traditional "secret" family Limoncello recipe. The company has located in southern California because of the similarities to the Italian climate and abundance of lemons. Southern California is also the birthplace of trends, hosts the 5th largest economy in the world and is the #1 consumer of liqueur in the U.S.

Lemoncella has gained immense popularity because it represents a youthful aperitif with old-world tradition, yet is modern and trendy. Lemoncella appeals to the young and old with our respect to gender with its lemon flavor, all natural ingredients and healthy connotation. Limoncello is served
ice-cold as an after dinner drink, an ingredient for many cooking recipes and specialty drinks such as the Lemontini©, The Spirits of Coachella own Limoncella Martini. Visit our Recipes page for tips on how to use Lemoncella in desserts, entrees and you'll even find a homemade Limoncello recipe.
